POSTOPERATIVE CARE AND PATIENT INFORMATION FOR REFRACTIVE SURGERY (LASIK).

1. LEAVE SHIELD ON EYE! DO NOT RUB YOUR EYE!

2. You will wear the shield(s) the evening following your procedure and for one week during sleeping hours.

3. You may take the extra strength Tylenol (provided in your post-op kit) when you arrive home and as needed for discomfort.

4. No exertion on first postoperative day - stay home. Keep your eyes closed as much as possible. NO T.V. OR READING!

5. It is normal to have:

  • A foreign body sensation in your eye(s).
  • Tearing
  • Burning
  • Light Sensitivity
  • Glare
  • Fluctuation of vision

6. Occasionally a patient will get a subconjuctival hemorrhage, "red spot". This should not cause discomfort and should disappear within a few weeks. This will not alter the outcome of your surgery.

7. Do not drive after your surgery.

8. Do not place anything with weight on your eye(s), (i.e. ice bags or sleeping mask).
