Instructions For After Eyelid Surgery Dr. Baron's Patients

Medications:

Maxitrol Drops/Ointment: Instill one (1) drop or small strip of ointment four times daily to the eye for three weeks

Tylenol: Two tablets orally every three hours as needed for discomfort.

Remove patch as directed by staff or doctor.

DO NOT USE ANY MEDICATIONS CONTAINING ASPIRIN.

Cleanse the eye with a cotton ball moistened with warm tap water as needed. Avoid pressing on the eye.

Resume your normal activities except avoid strenuous jarring movements.

Some discomfort is common after surgery. Most patients have minimal discomfort and take Tylenol successfully for relief of their pain. If the pain becomes excessive, however, please contact Dr. Baron.

You may have some mild bleeding from your incision site. This is not uncommon, and a small amount is normal. A large amount of blood or excessive swelling of the lid should be brought to Dr. Baron's attention.

Your vision in the operated eye will be blurred initially. It may take 2 to 3 weeks to become clear.

If you are having any unusual problems. Or if you have any questions the first day after surgery, please call the office before 3:00 pm so there will be time to talk to you or have you stop by the office if necessary. If you have trouble after hours, we have an answering service that will contact a doctor for you.
