INSTRUCTIONS AFTER CATARACT SURGERY FOR DR. BARON'S PATIENTS
Remove the shield at bedtime and insert one drop of Maxitrol into the operated eye. Then tape the shield over the eye. Remove the shield in the morning.
MEDICATIONS:
| Antibiotic drops: |
Wash hands before instilling eye drops. Instill one (1) drop of Maxitrol four (4) times daily to the eye for three weeks. |
| Tylenol: |
You may take two (2) tablets orally every three hours as needed for discomfort. |
Cleanse the eye with a cotton ball moistened with warm tap water as needed. Avoid pressing on the eye.
Tape the eye shield over the operated eye at bedtime for one week.
Resume your normal activities. Do not rub your eye.
Dark glasses maybe more comfortable for you when you are outdoors. Your eye may feel scratchy, itchy, and may water after surgery.
Call me if you develop any of the following:
| Pain in the operated eye. |
| Increasing redness of the white part of the eyeball. |
| Increasing swelling of the eyelids. |
Your vision in the operated eye will be blurry initially. It may take 2 to 3 weeks to become clear.
